Michael Gelles
Dr. Michael Gelles is currently a managing director with Deloitte. Following a career in law enforcement he joined Deloitte in 2006. Currently, he leads the Investigations and Intelligence offering focused on consulting in the areas of law enforcement, intelligence and security. He consults to federal, state and local law enforcement, defense and civilian government sectors as well as private sector organizations around investigations, operations, strategy, organizational design, business assurance, with a specific emphasis around people, mission and risk. Previously, he was an executive in federal law enforcement and the chief psychologist for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) for more than 20 years. In that capacity, he assisted the NCIS and a multitude of other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies with criminal, counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations and operations. He served as an executive and helped NCIS in several organizational transformations around shifts in mission. Dr. Gelles also leads the insider threat practice. He is an author of numerous articles and book chapters, as well as a books on threat management and risk assessment and the recent release of Insider Threat; Prevention, Detection, Mitigation and Deterrence published by Elsevier Press.
